Jelyn Pasamonte is the FilCan Idol 2014 Junior Division First Runner-up.
Jelyn started singing at a very young age, actively participating at church, banquets, parties and special events. She also lent her talent for various fundraisers for the Children’s hospital and concerts organized by the church.
Her musical resumé blossomed when she was in high school, first as part of the Orchestre à Vents de Saint-Luc from 2015 to 2019, where she was the lead flutist for 3 years. She was also a part of Saint-Luc’s Jazz Band et Plus, which competed in 5 music competitions, namely Festival des Harmonies à Sherbrooke and Music Fest. The band also played at the Maison Symphonique de Montreal. Apart from her vocal prowess, she showcased her acting chops when she was cast as Little Nala for École Secondaire St-Luc’s La légende de Simba, as the female lead Marie Claire in Music Man Jr, and as Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray.
Jelyn is an avid fan of jazz, musicals, R & B, pop and the classics, and considers Celine Dion, Lea Salonga, and the late Whitney Houston as her inspirations. Offstage, she is pursuing a career in Nursing but remains determined in pursuing her career as a singer and actress, with broadway as her final goal — a dream she shared with her late father, who was her biggest fan.
